Castle Vale is set to welcome in the festive spirit as “Joy to the Vale” brings the community together for a Christmas Tree light switch on at Centre Park. The event, taking place on 5th December, starting at 4:30pm, marks the beginning of the festive celebrations in Castle Vale.
This year’s Christmas Tree, donated by Nationwide Windows, will stand in Centre Park. The tree not only brings excitement to Castle Vale but will also serve as a long-lasting centrepiece for future celebrations, as it will be rooted and permanently planted in the park.
The Christmas Tree donation follows Nationwide’s partnership with The Pioneer Group on a transformative windows and doors replacement programme across Castle Vale. The programme, which aims to improve the quality of life for residents by improving home energy efficiency and security to over 2,000 homes, is well underway across Castle Vale.
The event is due to start at 4:30pm. Donut and hot chocolate stands will also be on site throughout the event.
Simon Wilson, Chief Executive at The Pioneer Group, highlighted the impact of this event “The Christmas tree light switch-on is a great way to bring our community together during the festive season. My thanks go to everyone involved in making this event happen. Special thanks to Nationwide for donating the tree and to Councillor Goodwin for his support to bring this event to life. This event will kick start our celebrations across Pioneer and Compass support with a host of festive activities taking place this December.”
Councillor Ray Goodwin who praised Birmingham City Council’s support for the light switch on said “My sincere thanks to the Pioneer Group and its partners for embracing the Christmas spirit in such an amazing way. This is a true testament to Castle Vale and the strength of its partnership working that made this possible.
I also extend my gratitude to Councillor John Cotton, Leader of the Council, and Councillor Majid Mahmood, Cabinet Member for Environment and Transport, for their valuable support in making this event happen.”
Kevin Caveney, Director of Commercial Sales at Nationwide Windows & Doors shared
“At Nationwide Windows & Doors, we are deeply committed to creating social value in the communities we serve. We understand the importance of fostering community spirit, especially during the holiday season, and we’re proud to support Castle Vale with the donation of a community Christmas Tree.
“It’s our privilege to work alongside the Castle Vale community to make this Christmas a little brighter and to demonstrate how businesses can create meaningful impact through small but powerful gestures.”
Additionally, throughout December, Pioneer and Compass Support will continue to spread festive cheer across Castle Vale. Residents can give their support to the Christmas Hamper campaign by donating a new or good quality bag for life at the High Street office of Pioneer or the Sanctuary. These bags for life will be used to create hampers for those in need this Christmas on Castle Vale. Bags for life donations for the hamper need to be made before 16th December.
The Sanctuary will also feature a Christmas Tree, located in the community hub area of the building. This tree will serve as a special campaign for children across Castle Vale. Residents can complete a form to nominate their child to receive a Christmas gift. Tags with the child’s age and suggested gift ideas will then be placed on the tree. Members of the public can select a tag, purchase a gift, and return it to the Sanctuary.
