Summit’s stark insight
Senior leaders from Pioneer joined leading industry figures attending a summit examining how racial inequalities are impacting the housing sector across the city.
Organised by the Birmingham Race Impact Group (BRIG) and co-sponsored by The Pioneer Group, the event featured presentations from keynote speakers including Lara Oyedele, President of the Chartered Institute of Housing and Bishop Llewellyn Graham, the Chief Executive Officer at Nehemiah United Churches Housing Association.
Chief Executive at the Pioneer Group, Simon Wilson, was joined at the event, held at the Legacy Centre of Excellence, Newtown, by colleagues Kate Foley, Director of Housing and Customer Service and Richard Kettrick, Head of Housing and Customer Services.
“I was really pleased that Pioneer could co-sponsor this important event that highlights that, despite good strides being made within workforces, many housing providers still face the challenge of making our senior teams and board rooms more representative of the communities in which we operate,” said Simon.
“At Pioneer we are up for this challenge and the wider debate around structural inequalities still ingrained in many of our communities. Indeed, this work sits at the very heart of the Pioneer mission.
“The BRIG summit provided some really helpful tips, tools and food for thought and we look forward to continuing to support the group in its work in the future.”
