We are excited to share that The Pioneer Group is supporting The Ladders of Opportunity Bursary scheme, in memory of former MP Jack Dromey and Councillor Penny Holbrook.
The scheme is open to people in Castle Vale and Stockland Green aged between 16 – 25, offering bursaries of up to £1,000 to support their learning or employment prospects. The scheme will also provide a tailor-matched mentoring service for each successful applicant.
Our Chief Executive, Simon Wilson, said: “We are proud to have worked with our partners on this great way of honouring Jack and Penny, who contributed so much across our communities in Castle Vale, Stockland Green and beyond.
“I am confident they would be pleased we are helping young people in particular, to access help as they climb their own personal ‘Ladder of Opportunity.’
“I look forward to hearing about how the bursaries have helped and hope that we create a lasting legacy in memory of two special individuals.”
Applicants must live in the Erdington areas of Erdington, Castle Vale, Stockland Green, Gravelly Hill, Kingstanding, Perry Common or Pype Hayes, and their full household income must be less than £25,000.
The application process follows a form, short personal statement, video testimony and evidence of how the grant will be used. A reference from a professional who knows them, for instance a teacher or youth worker, will also be asked for.
The deadline for all applications is 14th June. To apply, head over to Witton Lodge’s website at: Applications Open – Ladders of Opportunity Bursary – Witton Lodge and follow the steps outlined.
