STAIRS (Social Tenant Access to Information Requirements)

STAIRS (Social Tenant Access to Information Requirements) STAIRS (Social Tenant Access to Information Requirements)

Changes are coming to how we share information with you.

From 2026, new rules called STAIRs (Social Tenant Access to Information Requirements) will change how we publish information and respond to requests. It’s all about being more open, quicker to respond, and clearer about how we work.

We’re getting ready now so we can give you better access to the information that matters most.

What is STAIRs?

STAIRs is a new government requirement for social housing providers.

We’ll publish more information about how we run things

You’ll be able to ask us for information and get a clear response

We’ll need to be faster, clearer and more transparent

In short, it gives you better access to how we make decisions, spend money and manage your home.

Key Dates to Know

1 October 2026: We start publishing more information

From this date, we’ll publish information we already hold across key areas, including:

How we're run and how decisions are made

How we spend money

How we manage our homes

How our services are performing

The services we provide

Key lists and registers

Other information about how we manage social housing

We’ll make this information easy to find and understand.

1 April 2027: You can request information from us

From April 2027, you’ll have the right to ask us for information in writing.

You might want to know:

Why a decision was made

How we've spent money

How we look after homes and neighbourhoods

When you ask, we’ll respond within 30 days. That means quicker answers and more transparency about what we do.

What This Means for You

STAIRs gives you:

  • More Visibility: You can see how we're performing and making decisions
  • Better Access: Information will be easier to find
  • Quicker responses: We'll respond to your requests within set timescales

It’s about helping you feel informed, confident and in control.

What We're Doing

We’re already getting ready.

We’ve:

  • Assigned staff to each area of the new requirements
  • Started reviewing the information we hold
  • Put plans in place to meet the October 2026 deadline

We’ll keep things simple and make sure you know exactly what to do when the time comes.

If you have any questions in the meantime, just get in touch with us, we’re happy to help.
