Keeping Our Community Safe
Your safety and peace of mind are our top priorities. That’s why we use CCTV across Castle Vale, to help create a safer, more welcoming environment for the people of Castle Vale.
Where and How It’s Used
Cameras are placed in key public areas across Castle Vale.
All footage is monitored and recorded in a secure Control Room.
We only capture images that are relevant to public safety and community wellbeing.
Signs are clearly displayed to let you know where CCTV is in operation.
Why We Use CCTV
Our CCTV system is here to:
- Help prevent and detect crime
- Support the police in investigations
- Work towards stopping anti-social behavior
- Monitor public safety during emergencies
- Improve the overall quality of life in our neighborhoods
Your Privacy Matters
- Cameras are not positioned to look into private homes.
- Operators are trained to respect privacy and use the system appropriately.
- We use privacy filters where needed to avoid intrusion.
Access to CCTV footage is strictly controlled. It may be shared with:
- Police and law enforcement (for investigations).
- Legal representatives or insurers (with proper requests).
- Individuals who appear in the footage (subject to legal conditions).
We never share footage unless there’s a valid reason and it’s handled securely.
Footage is stored for 28 days, then automatically deleted. If needed for an investigation, it may be kept longer under strict controls.
- Only authorised staff can access the Control Room.
- All visitors must sign in and agree to confidentiality.
- We regularly review our systems and policies to stay up to date and compliant.
