Partnership brings refurbished nursery space back to life at Chivenor House

The Pioneer Group and Chivenor Primary School are celebrating the completion of a refurbishment project which will see a former nursery space at Chivenor House once again filled with young learners.

The transformed space, located on the lower ground floor of Chivenor House on Castle Vale, welcomed children earlier this month.

The area has spent the last year being used for storage and contractor facilities during improvement works across the estate. However, discussions between Chivenor Primary School and The Pioneer Group identified an opportunity to bring the space back into educational use and create an enhanced nursery environment for local families.

The facility has a long history of supporting early years, having previously operated as a nursery through Tiggy Winkles, which was run by The Pioneer Group. The latest refurbishment ensures the space can continue serving the community for years to come.

Chivenor Primary School have delivered a comprehensive refurbishment programme to create a bright, modern and engaging setting for children.

Improvements include:

  • Reconfiguring internal partitions to create a larger, more open learning environment
  • A dedicated sleep area for children
  • A brand-new slide linking the entrance to the lower ground floor
  • Refurbished kitchen and toilet facilities
  • Improvements to the outdoor space, creating more room for play and activities

Dave Livesey, Asset Management & Development Director at The Pioneer Group, said:

“We’re incredibly proud to hand this refurbished space over to Chivenor Primary School and see it brought back into use as a nursery for local children and families.”

“This project shows what can be achieved when organisations locally work together with a shared vision for the community. We’re delighted to see a space with such an important history begin a new chapter and once again make a positive difference to local families.”

Lisa Guest, Executive Headteacher at Chivenor Primary School, said:

“We are delighted that after many years of  our wonderful community requesting nursery provision at Chivenor, this has now become a reality. Thanks to great partnership working, everyone has pulled together to make this dream come true.

“Our families are immensely grateful and will benefit from this fantastic opportunity that will see our youngest little learners get off to a great start. Their exciting educational journeys are starting here at Chivenor Nursery and we would invite prospective families to book a visit to see why places are in such high demand.”

The nursery will begin welcoming children from early September, marking the start of an exciting new chapter for the refurbished space and continuing the long-standing partnership between The Pioneer Group and Chivenor Primary School.
