Celebrating Community Heroes at Castle Vale Community Hearts Awards
On Thursday 19th March, residents and organisations from across Castle Vale came together to celebrate those who go above and beyond to support the community.
Organised by The Pioneer Group, the ceremony took place at Lift Greenwood and began with a spectacular performance by local dance group Centre Stage. Trevor Evans, from Lift Greenwood, and Tai Coleman, Castle Vale resident, were the hosts for the evening.
The evening saw six Castle Vale residents awarded for their dedicated community work. They were each presented with a certificate, award trophy and special Castle Vale Community Hearts Awards badge.
Each winner was surprised with a special video, showcasing the incredible work they have done for Castle Vale and the positive impact they’ve had on residents.
The winners were:
- Young Ambassador Award: Skylar Orme-Joicey
- Unsung Hero Award: Wayne Haynes
- Volunteer Award: Sonia Carr
- Community Connector Award: Alice Rawlins
- Duty to the Community Award: Lee Crofts
- Good Neighbour Award: John Shearer
The awards were sponsored by Nationwide Windows and Doors, who were there on the evening to present the winners with their certificate, trophy and badge. Local organisations were in attendance, including Upcycle Birmingham, Spitfire Services, Chivenor Primary School and more.
The evening then closed with a stunning performance from Castle Vale’s Got Talent 2025 winner Brooke Haynes, who sung Britney Spears’ Everytime.
