This rail consultation could help shape Castle Vale’s future

14/07/26

At first glance, you might think this rail consultation isn’t relevant to Castle Vale.

But we’d encourage you to take a look.

We’re always looking for ways to improve connections between Castle Vale, Birmingham city centre and the wider region. Better transport links can make it easier to get to work, education, healthcare, shopping and leisure opportunities. That’s why this consultation matters.

The plans focus on improvements to the rail network across the West Midlands. While they don’t include a railway station for Castle Vale, they form part of bigger conversations about how rail travel could grow in the future.

Many people may not know that Castle Vale once had its own railway station. While we’re a long way from seeing one return, improvements to the wider rail network could help create opportunities for future discussions about bringing rail services closer to our community.

As an anchor organisation, we want to help make Castle Vale better connected. We know easier, faster journeys into Birmingham city centre and beyond would benefit residents, businesses and local organisations.
